A gold for our beer
As excited as we are, we still can’t get used to another medal for one of our beers. Even though we always receive a great feedback, we are still unsure of our work and we still don’t believe sometimes that we are good enough or our beers are good enough. Sometimes we have gushers, the fermentation is more aggressive than we plan or we have issues with the barrels. No one really knows how much struggle is behind each brew. Sometimes is so easy to judge and of course, our customers are our primal focus, but please be gentle with us, we are still learning.
We have heard about the contest in Barcelona from our friend from Hopsasam, he won a medal there with his amazing barrel aged beer and he told us that is a difficult contest, but we should give it a try.
The Barcelona Beer Challenge was at its fifth edition this year and their purpose is to bring a new level of recognition and visibility for the best quality beers. The BBC was born under the umbrella of Barcelona Beer Festival, the main sector event in the entire country and one of the most important in south-Europe, attracting 35.000 visitors in one weekend and where the best national and international breweries are taking part.
We got registered with three beers, Oriel Blond Wild, Oriel Quadrupel Laphroaig Barrel Aged and Oriel Winter 2019 and hoped for the best.
The award ceremony was planned for the beginning of April and with one month before we received an invitation for the festival and ceremony. Unfortunately, this shitty Corona virus canceled the event and we just waited and hoped for the results that were rescheduled with a YouTube show.
The awaited day came and when they announced almost at the end of the show the winners in the category of autumn and winter ales, we couldn’t believe our eyes that we got gold for our Winter beer.
Again and again we want to thank you all for inspiring us, for your support all over this time. Meanwhile, we already bottled the Winter 2020 edition and it looks awesome so far.
Keep it craft,
